Hi! I’m Carl. I like birds. I like other things, too. Especially backpacking, rock-climbing, biking, hiking, camping, beer drinking, eating, travelling, great nature, and great cities.
I’m married to Alison. She also likes those things. She’s really good at building campfires and finding four-leaf clovers.
We’re both architects, we live in Chicago with two cats. Judging by how intently they watch them out the window, they like birds, too.
thankyou for following and visiting my blog 🙂 you have awesome pictures and nice blog!

Douglas, sorry i couldn’t respond sooner. The best sparrow areas at rainbow beach are the grasses to the east, especially the bushes near the breakwall. Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck!!

Hey Carl! I’m a big fan of your blog. I love the way you weave great photos with stellar stories of the highs and lows of trying to “catch ’em all.” I’ve just begun birding this summer after a trip to the PNW but live down in central IL. If you’re ever down that way, let me know!

Thanks Jon! PNW is a great place to become a birder but, there are some outstanding spots in central IL, as well!! Cheers!!
